Cape Breton Highlands National Park – 1st Annual Geocaching Weekend, July 17-19

A new special event is being held at Cape Breton Highlands National Park this weekend  – 1st annual Geocaching Weekend – July 17-19.  The event kick-off begins with a meet and greet Friday evening at 6 pm. at Cheticamp Visitor Centre. At 6:30 pm, The Atlantic Canada Geocaching Association will host a Geocaching workshop and demo. At 7:30 pm. a half hour Hikers Safety presentation will be given by Hike the Highlands Festival.

On Saturday, July 18th,  Cape Breton Highlands National Park at the Cheticamp Visitor Centre will be releasing the 5 new Eco-caches Geocache Challenge co-ordinates.  Geocachers will then go and find the 5 geocache sites located throughout the Cape Breton Highlands National Park that will take then from Cheticamp to Ingonish today. A special geocaching coin will be given to geocachers who find all five locations. In the evening from 6:00 pm. – 8:00 pm. there will be a barbecue at Keltic Lodge where there will be prizes and entertainment.  The weekend concludes on Sunday, July 19th where their will be a kids geocaching event at Broad Cove Campground from 10:00 am. to 3 :00 pm.
