Day 3 – Good on Ya Hikers
A little rain today on Day 3 of the festival, September 14, but it did not discourage the hikers. Today’s hikes were Middle Head, Slatey Point and Franey. All three hikes provided good tree cover for hikers. The original weather forecast had quite a bit of rain and wind. Thus the Warren Brook hike, very exposed, was changed to Slatey Point which had tree cover. Most of the fog lifted for the Franey hike providing an interesting view on the summit.
The evening presentation – ” Grass in the Highlands ? The latest chapter in the Moose saga by Matthew Smith was well received. His presentation attracted almost a full audience. Matthew is the Park Ecologist, with Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
Day 4 Hikes are as follows – Money Point Light – 9:00 am., Sugar Loaf – 9:00 am. (Park at Cabot Landing Provincial Park) and Cabot Landing – 1:00 pm. Evening presentation on day 4 is Hiking in the Wales.
