Day 7 – Sunny & Warm
North River Waterfalls Family photo – Photo credit – Ruth Nyona
The big news on Day 7, Sept. 19, it was sunny and warm compared to the last 3 days of the hiking festival. Perfect hiking weather for North River Big Falls and Franey hikes. Hikers enjoyed seeing North River Big Falls, Nova Scotia’s highest waterfalls at 105 feet (32 metres). This 18 km return hike was over 19 km going around windfalls, erosion and streams. Hurricane Dorian did damaged to North River Wilderness area & Franey (over 40 trees had to be cut). Franey hike had sunny conditions and no wind on top providing great photos. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by the festival and its hikers.
