Day 1 – Virtual Festival
Our Virtual Hiking festival, Sept. 11-20, 2020, has attracted hikers from Canada & US. Specifically in Canada – Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, NS and NL and in the states from Massachusetts & Colorado. Many hiked more than 4km the first day and some as high as 10 km plus. Some highlights & photos included Bruce Trail, Gatineau Park, Boughton River Trail in PEI, and Cape Breton Highlands National Park hiking trails – Warren Lake, Middle Head and Freshwater Lake..
Hikers were able to see presentations online and got to see a Nova Scotia, Northern Cape Breton and PEI perspective on hiking during COVID-19 and Trail Etiquette. They also took part in the daily poll hiking question. I have learned from Hiking this year and reading articles on COVID-19, It is important to be kind to others and respect their space – 2 metres (Six Feet).
