Spring and Gear Guides
A clear sign of spring has arrived when you start seeing all the gear guides featured in the outdoor magazines in April. The photo credit to left is Outside Magazine Summer Gear Guide 2023. Expect the 2024 in April/May.
This an excellent time to check out all your outdoor gear to see if anything needs replacing. Items that you should be checking are hiking boots, daypack and or backpack, hiking poles, hiking socks, hiking pants/shorts, hiking t-shirts – polyester and merino wool.
Those who hike in the spring be mindful of windfalls (trees & branches), wet areas, higher streams and brooks as the snow is melting. Good to hike with a friend in case you run into trouble and let people know you are out hiking.
