Clyburn Valley Snowshoe Hike – Feb 23rd
Fourteen people enjoyed a great snowshoe hike on the Clyburn Valley trail and Highlands Links golf course on Saturday, Feb. 23rd. The above picture was taken on our snowshoe hike from the Nova Scotia webcam at Highlands Links Golf Course, Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Special thanks to my wife for noticing this on the webcam.
It was a wonderful winter day to enjoy the outdoors, be active, meet people and take nature in. This was the second snowshoe hiking event organized by Hike the Highlands and is part of the Hike Nova Scotia Snowshoe hiking series. The Clyburn Valley received close to 50 cm of snow recently and consequently the snowshoe hike had to be modified.
I learned a very valuable lesson that day – it takes more than one person to break trail no matter how great of shape you think you are in. It was not hard to be humble and ask for help. I was dropping close to 10-12 inches in the snow breaking trail. Thanks to David and Lester for all your help breaking trail with me that day. It was greatly appreciated.
