Nikon P7700 Review
I thought I would begin this post with a short video of the Nikon P7700 to introduce you to the camera and some of its features. This camera replaces the Nikon P7100, 7000, 6000 and 5000 models. I owned the Nikon P6000 model and used it extensively when hiking as it was easily & quickly accessible from my camera bag. Plus it takes great photos.
Alot of changes have been made over the years to the current camera -Nikon P7700. First thing you will notice with P7700, there is no optical viewfinder. But it now has a vari-angle LCD display. So far I like the change. Camera now has a lens cap.. Shoots manual, full control like a DSLR , 1080 video….CMOS sensor – great image quality, can shoot 8 framers per second – great for sports shots and bird-watching. The hot shoe provides a variety of options – you can add a view finder, speedlight flash, or put a microphone on the camera. The lens is f2 wide and f4 at zoom, it has a built in ND filter ( see picture below of Still Brook Falls) , manganese alloy chassis (well built), and the lens has a better vibration reduction – 4 stops.
It has all the makings of a great hiking camera…I will report back next fall after I used it for a full season and let you know how it fared. So far I am very impressed with the quality of photos and the camera design. Many thanks to my wife for a great early Christmas present.
