Skyline & Fishing Cove Guided Hikes

Another amazing day on the trails at Skyline and Fishing Cove located on the Cheticamp side of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Close to 50 hikers enjoyed the two guided walks on another beautiful sunny day. I notice I got a windburn on Skyline. Today the festival is now past the halfway mark of the Hike the Highlands Festival – Sept. 14-23. Hm… time sure flies by when you are having fun.

A few pics to share with you – the sunrise in Ingonish,  Skyline trail pics and one of Fishing Cove.  Today’s surprises –  Bull Moose on Skyline, Smokey Bear and Henrietta (chicken) visit, and the calf moose at the end of the trail letting us go by while she eats.

The day ended with an amazing evening presentation of  National Parks in Kenya by Marie – Eve Bissonnette and Jean -Francois Bisaillon to a great audience. 

Tomorrow’s  weather forecast by Environment Canada as of 10:00 pm, Sept. 19 – sunny, high of 23 degrees. Hikes on Sept. 20 –  North River Big Falls at 9:00 am. and North River Little Falls at 10:00 am.  Go to the North River Provincial Park on Orgeon Road off the Cabot Trail. Tomorrow’s evening presentation at 7 pm. at Chanterelle Inn, North River – Strictly for the Birds by Bethsheila Kent, Master Birder and owner, Walking on the Wildside, outdoor company.
