Hike the Highlands Festival

A seven-day hiking festival on the Cabot Trail and Northern Cape Breton that features guided hikes, evening activities & presentations, the hiker distance award, opening & closing ceremonies and a photo contest.
Festival Updates & News – (March 31, 2025)
1) The 15th Annual Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge will take place Saturday, June 14, 2025. Teams of four will hike 3 mountains in one day. They include 1) Franey – the new hiking trail 13 km, 2) Broad Cove Mountain (2.3 km) and 3) Aspy (9.6 km). Registration is now open.
2) This year’s festival dates are September 13-19, 2025. Online registration for this year’s hiking festival is now open. Save money $$ by doing early bird registration.
3) Subscribe to our regular monthly newsletter and keep up with all the news. Our next newsletter will be coming out by March 31st, 2025 or earlier, 2025. 3 Peaks Challenge
The 15th Annual Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge will take place on June 14th, 2025. Teams of 4 hikers, will hike 3 mountains in one day.
