Cape Smokey & Franey Hikes & Closing Ceremonies
Another sunny day at the festival for the Cape Smokey and Franey Hikes. Hikers got the oppotunity to see some spectacular views at the end of each hike. At Cape Smokey, hikers were treated to a view of North & South Bay, Middle Head, Ingonish Island and Ingonish Harbour and at Franey – Middle Head, Cape Smokey, Clyburn Valley, Ingonish Island. The guides & sweep radios at Cape Smokey picked up radio signals at Franey so we switched channels.
In the evening, the closing ceremonies of the Hike the Highlands Festival took place at the Heather Room at the Glenghorm Beach Resort. A packed audience were treated to a number of excellent slide shows by NS Tourism photographer Wally Hayes and this year’s festival show by myself. Prizes were given and thank-yous to all our volunteers, partners, sponsors and hikers of course.
