Red Island Hike – Oct 26th

October 26, 2008 By Tom Wilson Uncategorized

One of my favorite things to do in the late fall is hike the Red Island Hiking Trail located at Indian Brook along the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island.  Today I was using a Nikon D60 Camera with 18 mm-135mm lens and my pics came out nice. I didn’t use any filters but the quality was still great today.  The trail is around 4km return but didn’t take long to do – one hour and ten minutes despite stopping for pics. The trail had flagging tape which helped today as the leaves were down on the ground and everything looked the same. I remember hiking in Fundy National Park in October and leaves were down in the ground making it hard to pick up the trail.

There is still some great days hiking left in the season although our hiking friend, Joyce in Newfoundland at Woody Point indicated snow was on the ground at Gros Morne National Park and there is snow in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park in the higher elevations recently.  Below are pics of my hike today… enjoy
