Do Something Incredible in 2020
It’s a catchy title for County Walking Magazine in UK walking program encouraging walkers /hikers to walk 1000 miles in 2020.
So what will this take :
1000 miles – 2.73 miles (4.36 km) a day .
500 miles – 1.37 miles a day (2.19 km)
1500 miles – 4.10 miles a day (6.57 km)
2000 miles – 5.48 miles day (8.76 km)
Here are some useful tips I have picked up since registering for the program in early January and going for the 1000 miles. They are : 1) Start off slowly and build your arm & leg strength, 2) Split it up and walk in the morning and then in the afternoon. 3) Give yourself rest days – your body needs time to recover, 4) keep track of your miles via progress chart, calendar or a spreadsheet, 5) listen to your body -it will tell when you have done too much and when you need a rest day and finally 6) treat yourself to some of their merchandise and of course Country Walking Magazine.
